Site problems?

Anyone who’s having problems looking through the site, would you mind commenting here?

Bob and I have been on the phone to the host provider (where SWI) lives and we are getting all sorts of “interesting” explanations.

Please give us a short description and who is your Internet provider.

Thanks boys and girls

Prentiss, SWI posts and comments have been intermittently slow to come on all day. My Internet provider is Time Warner SWO (Southwest Ohio) Div.

I’ve had the computer tell me that the loading of the page was “Done” but the screen was blank. My provider is comcast.

  • That’s the problem. Bob is going to send out a note, but here are the basics:

The hosting provider moved the site to a shared system last weekend. Since then the site has been “throttled” whenever it uses too much computing power. SWI has grown from a 7 gig a month site to a massive 32 gig a month site in the last 12 months. During that time the site was on it’s own server due to some problems in the past. Now we are sharing and the hosting provider considers “throttling” a feature.

Bottom line, if it gets slow back off for a while and don’t hit refresh for at least a couple of minutes. it’s the price of fame. Help is on the way the site will probably be moved to a new provider very soon.

Meanwhile the Hosting provider, BlueHost, will keep trying to make us think it’s our problem, or your problem, or a communications problem, a nutritional problem……

  • Yes, it will all be exactly the same (no such thing as a stupid question)
