Sex, Politics, and Religion

Sex, Politics, and Religion

by Bob Grant

Sexy WomanSex may be to some what it is not to others,

In tactful written form if I had my druthers.

Politicians DebatingPolitics may be to one what it is not to others,

In respectful written form if I had my druthers.

ReligionReligion in degree to you but not the norm for others,

In reserved written form if I had my druthers.

What to write – what to say,

How does an Editor negate the fray?

Edit is a term which brings anger to some,

Silence to others who would remain mum.

Censor those who have something to share,

To retain those writers would clearly be rare.

Common SenseThe bottom line which brings the most admiration,

Just write using common sense and moderation.

    Bob,

I understand how these topics are hot buttons. I have written several sexual stories, attempting in most of them to allude to the acts rather than graphically describe them. Except in my last entry, in which sexual obsession was the core of the story. Normally, I prefer not to stray into explicit descriptions, which are the stuff of Penthouse Confessions and often the last refuge of bad writers. Uh-oh; I may have pigeon-holed myself!

Religious and political polemics are tiresome but I have learned not to read them. I think that’s the simplest solution.

Thanks for presenting your views in poetry; it lends a sense of humor as you make your point. And none of us who walk this earth should ever take themselves too seriously.

    Bob
