Every day I have someplace I can deposit words that I have savored and mixed into a story, an essay, an article or poem. It’s this website www.speakwithoutinterruption.com and the ability to post whenever I feel creative has helped me and many others become better writers. But don’t just take my word for it, pick a post and read it.
I don’t always get paid to write, that’s how the market goes. But I always write. That is my choice. There are others on this site who write and post with great consistency. I read their posts and sometimes, most of the time, I comment. That’s if I know what to say. Even people who live in words can get lost trying to make a decent comment. All of us stutter when we write, real writers just don’t print it. They wait until the whole story is in flow form.
There is something exclusive about this site. It is open to all types of topics and you don’t get that on many websites. I don’t always like what I read, or agree with what I read and there are some things I’d prefer not to read about on the site. But the site is open for all opinions and mine are not going to stop another writer from expressing theirs. I am sure there are some who feel the same about me and what I write. That is not something a writer tries to dwell on. Just write, just keep it flowing. And we keep it moving here.
This is, however, a wonderful place to go and see what others are writing. It’s like a comfortable coffee shop, someplace familiar where you hang out daily and have your java and get to view the world through the eyes of others. It is a community even though we won’t admit it. Our goal is to write and be read, a simple goal that we all share and that makes us a family. Each time we post something it’s not just because we have the urge to write. We want it read. We want our work seen. The more we write, the more interesting our writing becomes, the more others want to come into the coffee shop and take a sip of our wares. It’s our place and it is up to us to make the best of it so that we can share it with others.
True it’s a place where no one tells us what to write or when and that is part of the fun of it. There can be an article about religious beliefs posted right after an article about sexual practices. Nobody is stopping us from writing what we believe in as long as it is legal and not damaging to the integrity of our brothers and sisters on the site. It is as simple as the rules of a frat house or better yet a family. We have to make our guests feel at home so they will come back.
So I come here to write even though I belong to other groups and write for and about things that won’t get posted to this site. And if you come here to read or write you should know that there are many talented and gifted people in this little writing community. Some of them have a lot to say and some make their presentations short and concise. We have blowhards, angels, vixens, and demons. But that’s what a family is. Especially a family of good writers. Take a look at what we have to offer more often. I promise you will be surprised at the variety you find here.
And if that is the spice of life then you are in luck. www.speakwithoutinterruption.com could make your day.

I have to say that there are many extraordinary writers here. Minette hasn’t published a book yet but I always enjoy her deceptively gently written posts, but several writers who contribute to this site have written some of the best books I have ever read: Bob Ellal (‘By These Things Men Live’), Bill Hazelgrove (‘Rocket Man’), Mel Nicolai (‘The Case’), Steve Sangirardi (‘Life On The Planet’ and ‘Geometers of intellect’), John Joss (‘A Full Accounting’), George Polley (‘Grandfather & The Raven’).
That is a list that would make a major publisher proud.
I would like to give Prentiss Gray a special mention. He keeps bouncing in and stirring things up which makes it much more fun. He is a sort of literary punch bag who punches first and writes some very good articles of his own.
Then you have some right-wing trash too, but even that is well written, dammit.
This really is a special place, kinda personal.
Very well said, Minette; thank you for saying it. I find SWI an interesting reading experience, and a good place to share a story or two, which I do.
This is absolutely wonderful!
Nice post Minnette.
Great post, you old softy, And thanks Tim. I’m still wondering if I’m a demon or a blowhard………..
It’s great to be part of this community, I want to thank you all for your participation and continued encouragement.
