Doing something for other than Monetary Reasons

money-stacksWhen I started this site, in December 2008, I approached it as any other business that I have owned.  I expected my efforts to realize rewards – monetary rewards.  I had a plan – to obtain the largest number of contributors and viewers – in the shortest amount of time.  I felt that volume would equal results – that if I placed advertising on the site – the gesture would create at least enough income to justify the time I had spent on the site.  We have done very well by realizing over 70,000 viewers in eleven months.  These results from a guy who has no education – or experience – in writing, publishing, or any other written form.  All I had was an idea and I was fortunate enough to find writers, and readers, who would take a chance on an unknown.

Last Saturday – from suggestions made by some of our contributors – we changed the appearance of our site.  I think the new site is more world-on-my-shouldersold-man-with-canecontributor, and viewer, friendly and I thank those who gave me suggestions and ideas.  Also, I was honored by a couple of posts made by two of our contributors and some comments – to me personally and on those posts – from some other of our contributors.  It was then that I felt some weight was lifted and I decided that I really wanted to continue with our site for reasons other than Monetary.  I have since informed our contributors that ads would no longer be placed on our site.  It is here for them to use as long as they want to use it to post their articles, ideas, opinions, life experiences, and comments.  It is also here for our viewers to visit as long as we have contributors who will write and post articles.  For me – it is something to enjoy as long as I am standing upright.

family-cartoonI believe our little site has created a family.  One of our contributors – from England – has published a book with articles submitted by some of our contributors.  We have continual comments – back and forth – between our contributors along with an every increasing, and most wanted, comments from our viewers.  Although none of us have met – I think our family looks forward to each day and reading what the other has written and posted to our site.  I believe we also have viewers who feel the same way.  What all of us have created means a lot to me – my mission is to maintain our site as long as our family wants to stick together.

writer-kneelingI invite all writers to join our family.  We welcome contributors from all parts of the world.  Our site states, “Speak Without Interruption is a site where writers can post their thoughts, ideas, opinions, and beliefs regarding any topic or category that interests them. Our site is a completely impartial place where writers can interact with other writers, and viewers, in an atmosphere of free speech and openness. We welcome all people who want to interact with other people and truly Speak Without Interruption.”  I want to take this opportunity to, very much, thank all of our contributors who have brought us to this point – our readers – and our future contributors/viewers who I hope will come to us in droves.
