Everyone should have writing goals, here’s some ideas to get you started.
1. Establish a daily writing quota.
2. Establish a daily writing time.
3. Set up a workspace.
4. Set up a filing system.
5. Purchase writing supplies.
6. Set longtime goals.
7. Find your writing niche.
8. Subscribe to writers’ magazines.
9. Establish a query quota.
10. Establish a manuscript submission quota.
11. Establish an article/short story quota.
12. Establish a book and/or book proposal quota.
13. Target specific publications.
14. Read books on writing.
15. Research markets.
16. Create a business plan.
17. Become comfortable with all your hats.
18. Promote yourself.
19. Make connections with editors.
20. Get an agent. (Or not.)
21. Read the magazines you want to write for. Read submission guidelines of publishers.
22. Enroll in writing classes.
23. Attend writer’s conferences.
24. Join a writer’s group.
